Stable chemistry for a stable factory: 10 years of Flotent Chemicals Rus

Mining World

In the market of reagents for the mining industry, one of the key challenges remains the shortage and high cost of raw materials for the production of a number of products

The mining reagent market continues to suffer from shortages and high raw material costs. Following the closure of secondary and tertiary chemical production facilities in the 1990s, some companies switched to importing components from Europe and China. In 2022, the situation worsened with the departure of foreign brands and a shortage of niche reagents, which stimulated the development of domestic technologies.

Flotent Chemicals Rus, a Russian manufacturer of reagents for mining, enrichment, metallurgy, and water treatment, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Last year, it shipped 4,000 tons of products to CIS countries, including Russia and Central Asian countries.

In 2026, the company expanded its product line and launched hydroxamates, a class of reagents not produced in Russia since the 1970s. They are used in the beneficiation of rare and rare earth metals, iron, apatite-nepheline, oxidized, and mixed ores. A line of targeted hydroxamates has been developed for various types of raw materials. Their use increases recovery by 15–20% compared to foreign analogues and facilitates the processing of significant volumes of oxidized ores. The project aims to provide Russian enterprises with reagents for rare and rare earth metals and strengthen their independence from imports.

The depressant product line will also be expanded in 2026: the Flotent DP-1 AGMA pyrite depressant is planned for launch, and industrial testing of the carbon depressant will continue. Depressant production will reach 2,000 tons. As part of its environmental strategy, the company is increasing production of Flotent GL3G cyanide-free leaching reagents.

Flotent Chemicals Rus places special emphasis on technological support for projects, from formulation selection to implementation at the plant. According to CEO Alexey Marfitsin, the production of domestically produced hydroxamates is an important step toward improving the efficiency of complex ore processing and strengthening the industry's independence.

About the company
